The Crystal Palace defender struggled at times against Arsenal but is believed to have caught the eye of Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal could look to make a move for Crystal Palace full-back Tyrick Mitchell in January with the player's future at Selhurst Park uncertain.
That's according to Spanish outlet SPORT, which is the latest outlet to report that the 25-year-old's current deal in South London is set to expire at the end of the current season. That would allow the defender to open talks with clubs about a move as a free agent in the New Year.
A fresh report focuses on transfer interest in Mitchell from La Liga giants Barcelona, but North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both namechecked as other clubs with interest in the player. Hansi Flick currently deploys Alejandro Balde as his first choice full-back in Catalunya but sees Mitchell as an ideal back-up option to provide competition.
Meanwhile, the defensive frailties at Spurs are no secret after Liverpool ran riot to bag six goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend. For Arsenal, Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior have all been linked with transfers away from the Emirates Stadium, which would leave Arteta lacking options at full-back.

Mitchell, who is a product of the Crystal Palace youth academy, has played 149 times in the Premier League. He featured for the Eagles against Arsenal last weekend as Arteta's side finished 5-1 victors and was rated 6/10 by LondonWorld. We said: "Set through Sarr well for his goal in the first half but struggled today, looking particularly lost for the first goal."
The defender, who has two England appearances to his name, now has two assists in his last two matches. Mitchell also teed up Ismaila Saar in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Question marks over Mitchell contract at Crystal Palace
In September, Football Insider reported that the club was prepared to open contract talks with Mitchell but there is yet to be any confirmation of a breakthrough. At that time, Manchester United had also been credited with transfer interest but that was before the arrival of Ruben Amorim and the departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth.
Speaking after last week's cup game and ahead of Premier League action, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner had highlighted how he hoped Mitchell would pose a problem for Arsenal and in particular Bukayo Saka. He said: “For me, he (Mitchell) played with too much respect. You can wait and control your winger, but I want them to attack in this situation. In the way we play, we need both wing-backs to attack. He could have done better with that.
“Of course, he is defending Saka, but with the way Arsenal defend, their wingers have to follow the wing-backs often. One thing Saka doesn’t like is to defend. So we want them to do things on the pitch that Arsenal don’t like. If we let them do what they want, they will win.”
