Things are looking good for Liverpool as they top the Premier League on Christmas Day after a fantastic start to the new season under Arne Slot.
The Reds are four points clear of second-place Chelsea with a game in hand and prepare to face Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day to cement their position at the summit.
Off the pitch, the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have dominated the back pages, with the trio’s contracts running out at the end of the season.
While the Anfield faithful eagerly await news of their renewal, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that another one of their key players is all set to put pen to paper on an extension.

Ibrahima Konate has been a key player under Slot and featured in every Premier League and UEFA Champions League game before picking up an injury in the 2-0 win against Real Madrid last month.
It remains to be seen when Konate returns to action, but it appears as if there have been some positive developments about his future.
Earlier this season, Romano confirmed that Konate and Liverpool are in the ‘final’ stages of talks over an extension, with the Frenchman all set to commit his future to the club.
Now, the Italian journalist has delivered a short but definitive update on the defender’s future where he seemingly confirmed that Konate will put pen to paper on an extension.

The Reds have become notoriously hard to break down under Slot and a large part of the credit should go to the Frenchman, who forged a fantastic partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the back.
Konate was spotted doing some gym work and has stepped up his recovery from his knee injury in recent weeks.
His exact return date remains unclear, but Liverpool will hope for him to return to action in new year and stay injury free in the second half of the season as they are looking to compete on all fronts.
