Wolves have made a conscious effort to get young players more involved in the first-team in recent times.
Over the past few years, we have seen a number of bright young talents from the Wolves academy get given opportunities in the first-team.
Sadly, there haven’t really been any that have nailed down a place in the starting XI. The likes of Nathan Fraser, Leon Chiwome and Joe Hodge have had decent chances in more recent times.
But the Molineux faithful is rather waiting for that one young gem to emerge and take the club by storm.
Here are three young players at the club that may well have the potential to do that, and enjoy big breakthroughs in 2025.
Bastien Meupiyou

Bastien Meupiyou joined Wolves at the end of the summer transfer window from Nantes.
Wolves fans were crying out for a centre-back to sign after the departure of Max Kilman. Meupiyou is a centre-half, but the plan was never for him to be a first-teamer straight away. Plus, he actually arrived having been nursing an injury.
Meupiyou recently returned to training at Wolves and has made a couple of appearances with the U21s so far.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
The 18-year-old is an imposing figure and someone who can operate as a centre-half, left-back or even in midfield.
He’s someone the club have high hopes for, and it’d be brilliant if he could get some minutes for the first-team in 2025 – the FA Cup will potentially present opportunities for the Frenchman.
Liam Keen recently reported it won’t be long before Meupiyou starts making matchday squads more regularly for Wolves, so he’s one to watch.
Dani Angel
Dani Angel signed for Wolves in October 2023 and has enjoyed some really good progression in the academy.
The striker – who’s played for Eagles United and Clapton FC in London, and also had futsal experience with Valencia between 2017 and 2020 – is potentially someone to look out for in 2025 having already been promoted to the U21s from the U18s.
Angel received a call-up to the Spain U18 squad back in April after his brilliant start to life at Molineux, and this term, he’s scored three goals for the Wolves U21s.
He was named the Wolves academy Player of the Year for 2023/24 and then penned a new contract to reflect his impressive progression.
He’s certainly someone to keep an eye out for in 2025.
Mateus Mane
Wolves signed Mateus Mane as a 16-year-old back in March of this year – and the gem looks like a serious talent.
Mane has made a good impact since signing from AFC Rochdale, and is currently with the U21s.
Back in May, Mane was described by U18s boss Richard Walker as ‘excellent’ on his debut against Derby County, against whom he scored. He said: “I thought he was excellent; we know his hunger for the game and his hunger to learn and I think that is evident in the way he plays.
“As a group of staff, we are really looking forward to continuing to work with him and help him because he has plenty to be excited about.”
Mane is already an England youth international, and this livewire has all the tools to make an impact for Wolves’ first-team next year. If not, then 2026 will surely be his time to shine.
