Leeds United promotion uncertainty as AI predicts Championship table

Leeds United have a great chance at promotion back to the Premier League, but it is by no means guaranteed, according to the Opta Analyst predicted table.

Daniel Farke's team are currently in second place and are looking for promotion back to the Premier League, after relegation from the top-flight in 2023. They have been given a 66.88% chance on reclaiming their place amongst England's elite.

However, Sheffield United are the favourites to win promotion from the Championship. The leaders boast a 75.98% probability of going up come the end of the 46th fixture.

The only other team that rivals the two Yorkshire sides is Burnley. Scott Parker's side, who occupy third place, are only a point behind Leeds but are less likely to be celebrating at the completion of the campaign, with a 41% chance.

Opta have also predicted five other teams to still have a chance of promotion to the Premier League. However, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion and Watford all have less than a 10% possibility of getting into the top two.

With half a season still to go, there are still a lot points to play for. The January transfer window could also cause this all to change with teams adding both depth and quality to their squads.

Leeds fans will be keen to see the players continue their fine home form and up their game on the road. If the Whites can do that, they should be able to avoid the dreaded play-offs and celebrate a massive achievement after they play Plymouth Argyle in May.
