Manchester City’s interest in goalkeeper dealt blow – Club have no intention of sale

Last week, Manchester City were said to be interested in a move for Juventus goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio.

It was suggested Pep Guardiola’s side were impressed by the Italian during the Champions League game involving the two sides and they would need a big fee to land the goalkeeper. Di Gregorio, it was mentioned, is seen as a potential replacement for Ederson.

Now, denials about the links have arrived from Italy. TuttoJuve have reported that while there is talk of Manchester City interest in the 27-year-old, Juventus have no intention of letting the player depart.

That is because Di Gregorio is seen as a key part of the side under Thiago Motta and they do not want to lose a player as important as him.

The Bianconeri man has played 18 times in all competitions this season, establishing himself as the undisputed first-choice. He had also impressed for Monza last season and had won the Best Goalkeeper of the Season award in the Serie A.

For now, it seems as if Manchester City will have to give up on any idea of landing Di Gregorio and focus on other targets.
