£25m Everton flop now has as many goals as Sean Dyche's side this season

Everton are in desperate need of a centre-forward.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have netted a combined three Premier League goals this season, so clearly, they need to be upgraded.

Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than Everton.

Everton have been monitoring Brazilian striker Igor Jesus and have been told to pay £16.5m if they want to land his signature.

The Toffees have also been linked to Evan Ferguson, who has been made available on a loan deal by Brighton and Hove Albion.

With all that said, Everton must now really regret selling one of their former strikers who’s ripping it up on the continent for a Champions League-chasing team.

Everton must regret selling Moise Kean

When Everton signed Moise Kean from Juventus in 2019, it was regarded as a major coup.

However, across his 39 appearances for the club, the Italian forward netted just four times and was eventually sold on a permanent deal in 2023.

Kean has now completely resurrected his career at Fiorentina and is among the most prolific goalscorers in Europe this term.

The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in 21 outings and is spearheading his side to a top-four finish in Serie A.

Kean has forced his way back onto the international scene with Italy, too.

Kean reflects on Everton spell

Speaking to The Athletic earlier this year Kean reflected candidly on his time at Everton.

“Out of all the experiences I’ve had, you won’t ever hear me say I had a bad one,” he explained.

“I find positives in all of them. If I hadn’t spent that year at Everton, I wouldn’t have learned the things I did there.

“I was a bit unlucky. I went there expecting to play a bit more. I was 19. I joined from Juve and thought I was going to smash it.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t go like that. We went through three coaches that year and mentally… it was all new for me. I was in England, it was a new environment.”
