2024 has certainly been a year of mixed emotions for Leicester City and their fans.
The Foxes began the year battling it out in the Championship, looking to secure a swift return to the Premier League.
Leicester City managed exactly that when they earned an impressive 97 points to win the second tier ahead of Ipswich Town.
However, after walking on air during the first half of the year – for the most part – the Midlands outfit were brought swiftly back down to earth upon their return to the top flight.
Leicester were forced to sack Steve Cooper after two wins in 12 league matches and remain very much in the relegation battle under new manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Now, with 2024 coming to a close, we have taken a look back at the club’s worst five results of the calendar year.

5- Plymouth Argyle 1-0 Leicester City
With Ipswich, Leeds United and Southampton still hot on their heels, Leicester faced an away trip to Plymouth Argyle on April 12th.
The Greens had managed just one win in their previous eight matches and looked set to be relegated to League One.

Against all the odds, however, Mustapha Bundu put the home side 1-0 up after 23 minutes and they were able to hold onto that lead.
In the end, Leicester were promoted as champions but that torrid showing vs Plymouth, coming off the back of a defeat to Millwall, had the potential to completely derail their season.

4- Coventry City 3-1 Leicester City
The rivalry between Leicester and Coventry, better known as the M69 derby, has been ongoing since 1919.
The Foxes have dominated the fixture in recent years and beat the Sky Blues 2-1 at the King Power earlier in the 2023/24 season.
However, Coventry would give their rivals a real hiding when the two teams clashed on January 13th – picking up their first victory over Leicester since 2008.

3- Brentford 4-1 Leicester City
Leicester’s first game after the sacking of Cooper saw them face off with Brentford on November 30th.
With Van Nistelrooy watching on from the stands, fans will have been praying for a new manager bounce.
Things got off to a positive start when Facundo Buonatte put the visitors 1-0 up but it really was all downhill from there.
What followed was one of Leicester’s worst defensive displays of the season, with Wout Faes and James Justin especially woeful.

2- Leicester City 1-3 Nottingham Forest
The East Midlands derby, or the Steve Cooper derby as it ended up being known this season, was another disappointing day for the Foxes.
Forest are flying high in the Premier League this term and even though Leicester hadn’t been at their best in the build-up to the match, fans will have expected a lot more.
Cooper’s men were completely outplayed on the day and ended up losing 3-1, meaning they have now earned just one victory over their rivals in all competitions since 2013.

1- Newcastle United 4-0 Leicester City
Van Nistelrooy got off to a fantastic start as Leicester manager, picking up a 3-1 win over West Ham United and a 2-2 draw with a Europe-chasing Brighton and Hove Albion.
As a result, when facing a Newcastle United side who had not been in great form, fans may have been fairly positive.
However, any optimism they have had was quickly quashed via a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle.
That result saw Leicester move to within a point of the relegation zone, bringing the club and fans firmly back down to earth following a positive start under the Dutchman.
