While speaking to ESPN, Liverpool legend Steve Nicol picked Maresca over Slot as the manager of the season so far. Firstly, he said that it is because no one predicted Chelsea to be anywhere close to top four. But currently, they are challenging to the league title.

Nicol then added that the Blues were in worse condition last season. In contrast, the Reds were on the top of table with 10 games to go last season. This is enough to showcase the impact Maresca had on Chelsea this season.
To be fair, we have to give credits to Maresca. As Nicol said, no one believed they would be in such a good state this quickly. The Blues are looking like a completely different team this season. The Italian boss deserves all the praise in the world to turn things around.
