Mohamed Salah posted a picture with his family on Christmas Day
Mohamed Salah has again taken to social media to share a sweet photo showing him spending Christmas with his family - and as usual it has provoked plenty of reaction.
As a proud Muslim man, Liverpool star Salah's yearly decision to post a picture with his wife and two daughters at Christmas - this time once again in matching pyjamas - often draws criticism from some, but he sees the gesture as a show of respect.
Soon to enter his eighth year at Liverpool, Salah and wife Magi have brought up daughters Makka, 10, and Kayan, 4, in a predominantly Christian country, and as the girls have grown used to experiencing Christmas, Salah wants to ensure that they get to enjoy it as they learn about other faiths.

Salah's post on Christmas Day showed the family sitting in front of a Christmas tree with an oversized gingerbread man, with the four of them looking as though they had all been enjoying their time together.
The comments section of both Instagram and Twitter/X posts were quickly flooded with both positive and negative takes, with a theory also suggested that both Liverpool - who are currently top of the Premier League and Champions League tables - and Salah apparently lose form shortly after the Egyptian posts his annual message.

There is no real evidence to back up such a suggestion, and indeed Salah posted a picture with his family on Christmas Day 2019 before the Reds went on to win the Premier League.
While many choose to criticise Salah for posting a message deemed by some to be offensive towards his own religion, there are just as many positive comments on the posts.
This year's message comes amid the backdrop of Salah's ongoing contract impasse at Liverpool, where fans hope an agreement can be reached soon, not only with the 32-year-old top scorer but also captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Liverpool have entered discussions with all three players and there remains strong hope that deals can be reached, in particular with Salah and Van Dijk.
Salah struck twice in the 6-3 win at Tottenham before Christmas, and will be back in action when the Reds host Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day.
