London rivals showing interest in young and versatile Belgian star

All of the top London clubs – Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are showing interest in one common player. The questioned player is young, versatile and represents Belgium on international stage.

The star in question here is Maxim De Cuyper of Club Brugge. Cuyper is 24 years old and plays on variety of positions. He mainly plays as left back but is equally effective as a left midfielder and as a left winger.

Cuyper has so far played 172 matches on senior level. He has recorde 26 goals and 28 assists in those games. He has already played in 6 games for Belgium national team and has already scored his first goal for the country.

According to CaughtOffside, all of the top London clubs are showing interest in Cuyper. In addition, the report states that Gunners have the lead in the race. But, the 25 year old has no intention to switch clubs mid-season.

Cuyper has signed contract extension with Brugge only this summer. His new contract runs until 2028 so Brugge will be in strong position when it comes to negotiation. They will demand a big amount as the player has interest from many clubs.

Firstly, Gunners have a very good defensive side. But, Kiwior and Zinchenko are both linked with exit. Cuyper can be their long-term replacement. In addition, he can provide backup on front whenever needed.

Secondly, Chelsea will have opening at the left back position soon. Ben Chilwell is surely in the last season of his Chelsea career. He is on the verge of getting sold in January.

Lastly, Spurs have the most need to sign a defensive player. Ben Davis is nearing the end of his career and many other current stars are facing injury issues. Cuyper can become a long-term investment but Spurs will ge unable to provide him with UCL next season.
