Leeds United and Derby County are in a race to secure the services of Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry, according to Dominic Shaw.
The Northern Echo journalist reported on 24 December that Villa are planning to loan him out to a Championship club after recalling him from his loan spell at League One outfit Stockport.

Louie Barry will be a solid signing for Leeds United
Villa recalled the Englishman and want to send him to the Championship, making Leeds an attractive prospect as he would be part of a promotion chase.
If the Whites give him regular game time, there’s no reason why Villa and Barry would not consider this move a good one.

The 21-year-old comes highly recommended and Arsenal star Declan Rice spotted the talent he had back in 2021.
He wrote on X: “Incredible composure from Louie Barry there.”
It’s evident that Leeds can do with a versatile attacker in January, especially a proven goal scorer like Barry, given Patrick Bamford’s struggles and Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph not getting that consistency as number nines.
Whether Barry is the answer or not, remains to be seen, but this is certainly a move that makes sense for all parties.
