Winger Martial Godo was delighted with [‘a wonderful experience’](https://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2024/december/22/martial--wonderful-experience/) after making his Premier League debut during Sunday’s stalemate with Southampton.
The England under-20 international came on for Tom Cairney and put together an encouraging cameo just two years after joining Fulham’s academy from non-league Margate. Godo, who spent last season on loan at League One Wigan Athletic, told FFCTV:
“A wonderful experience playing in the Premier League, one of the best leagues in the world – very intense, of course back and forth, but very enjoyable none the less. Hopefully, many more to come!
About two and a half years ago, I was playing in non-league with Margate. I joined Fulham in the summer and done one year in the academy. That was good because I was still learning and growing … I’ve never been in the academy system. Then I went on loan to Wigan. That’s when I kicked off. It was lovely out there. I met some great people there who helped me and now I’m here in the Prem, with a great team, great staff and a lovely club.
Since I joined, I’ve been training with the lads. They’ve always welcomed me with open arms, even the gaffer who has put so much trust and support into me. I’ve grown massively, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. I just try to take every game as it comes, keep working hard and try to fulfil my potential.”
