Tyne and Wear Metro have announced their Boxing Day timetable
Tyne and Wear Metro operator Nexus have announced that trains will run to a revised service on Boxing Day, whilst also announcing there will be extra replacement buses running for the Newcastle United fixture.
The operator said that trains will run from around 8am to 8pm on Boxing Day between Heworth to South Hylton/South Shields, and Monument to St James/Airport.
Newcastle United are also at home to Aston Villa on Boxing Day. Tyne and Wear Metro announced this week that there will be extra replacement buses running on the day, but still advised fans to plan ahead and allow more time for their journey before the 3pm kick-off.
The 900 service replacement bus will run on an approximate eight minute frequency between Newcastle city centre and Heworth, as the line is still closed from Heworth to Monument because of the Gateshead Flyover.
The service has suspended since Thursday, December 19, originally due to "third party infrastructure issues", but it was later confirmed that it was due to the Gateshead Flyover.
On the revised service for Boxing Day, Tyne and Wear Metro advised: "The times will vary depending on the location and the direction of travel. Before travelling please check the latest Metro service update by visiting the website, viewing the Pop App or by viewing Metro's X page, formerly Twitter, @My_Metro."
