Liverpool vs Leicester City: Predicted lineup, team and injury news as Jamie Vardy replacement…

Leicester City will be looking to cause an upset when they face off with high-flying Liverpool on Thursday.

Leicester City fell to a very disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last Premier League outing.

Liverpool, meanwhile sat top of tree heading into Christmas and are now looking to extend their lead over Chelsea and Arsenal even further.

Arne Slot’s men have fallen to defeat just once in 2024/25, while Leicester have secured just three wins and could end Boxing Day in the relegation zone.

In reality, it seems very unlikely the Foxes will get anything out of the meeting, especially with a few big names potentially missing out.

Leicester City team and injury news vs Liverpool

Harry Winks made his return off the bench this past weekend following an injury issue picked up vs Chelsea.

Boubakary Soumare was also back in the eleven but there was once again no place in the squad for Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi is currently in injury rehab and the Liverpool meeting will come too soon for the midfielder.

Elsewhere, in a big blow, Van Nistelrooy shared a Jamie Vardy update ahead of Liverpool, suggesting he may not be involved on Thursday.

On a slightly more positive note, though Mads Hermansen remains a doubt to face the Reds, Jakub Stolarczyk has returned for Leicester and will be available on Boxing Day.

Leicester City predicted lineup vs Liverpool

Danny Ward was booed by Leicester fans during the harrowing defeat versus relegation rivals Wolves recently.

The Welshman has shipped six goals in just 135 minutes of action this month and is expected to be dropped now that Stolarczyk is back.

Elsewhere, Van Nistelrooy brought Jannik Vestergaard off after 45 minutes in the club’s last fixture, suggesting he could be axed this time around.

Fans are growing tired of Facundo Buonatte being benched as well, with the Argentine now surely set to return to the eleven following a run of very poor results without him.

The main problem Ruud has to solve, however, will be who fills in for Vardy in the number nine role.

Van Nistelrooy has praised Patson Daka and with Odsonne Edouard still searching for a Premier League goal this season, Daka seems like the best replacement for Vardy.

Here’s how we think Leicester will line up against Liverpool on December 26th.

Leicester City XI vs Liverpool: Stolarczyk (GK), James Justin, Caleb Okoli, Conor Coady, Victor Kristiansen, Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare, Jordan Ayew, Facundo Buonatte, Stephy Mavididi, Patson Daka.
