Barcelona midfielder Pedri has seen no shortage of accolades in his young career so far.
The Spaniard notably won the prestigious Golden Boy award back in 2021. He had also won the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or Gala in the same year.
Now, Pedri has added another feather in his cap by bagging yet another prestigious award, this time awarded by a local Spanish body.
Pedri wins Tenerife’s Best Son award
Indeed, Pedri has been bestowed the prestigious ‘Hijo Ilustre de la Isla de Tenerife’ award, which celebrates all his accolades as a footballer at the age of just 22.
The award literally translates to ‘Tenerife’s Best Son’, which is a sporting honour given to individuals originating from the island of Tenerife, the biggest in the Canary Islands.
Pedri, who stems from the town of Tegueste, located inside the Tenerife islands, is through and through a Canary, having started his career at Las Palmas.

The award, therefore, celebrates Pedri’s success, as someone belonging to Tenerife, although most of his success has come in Catalonia.
Upon receiving this accolade, Pedri had a heartfelt message to fans and the association.
“I have received many awards in my short career. I have appreciated each one of them greatly, but nothing compares to this award. Being recognized in your country is something special and I will never forget it,” he said (h/t El Chiringuito).
**“I never imagined that I would receive this great honour at only 22 years old. All my successes I have always wanted to dedicate to my island and the Canary Islands. This honour is undoubtedly the most important for me,**” the midfielder added.
To receive this award, Pedri was accompanied by another star from Tenerife, Ayoze Perez, along with Tenerife’s Sports Minister, and the president of the Tenerife City Council.
