Arsenal are ‘monitoring’ Wolves star Matheus Cunha ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.

Cunha has performed very well in the Premier League this season, conjuring up nine goals and three assists across 17 top-flight games.

The Gunners ae long-term admirers of Cunha and have been ‘impressed by his performances’ this term, The Athletic reported on Boxing Day.

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Cunha – who is thought to cost around £50m to £60m – as the January window looms, but a deal is unlikely at this stage.

That’s because Wolves, who are in a Premier League relegation battle, don’t want to lose such an important player midway through a season.

It is more likely that Arsenal will wait until the summer to launch any type of move for Cunha, especially if Wolves go down to the Championship.

Football transfers expert Graeme Bailey recently told Molineux News that Pedro Neto’s sale to Chelsea meant that Cunha’s price tag would be around £50m to £60m.

Cunha has been at Wolves since January 2023, originally joining the club on a loan deal from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

That later become a permanent switch, with Wolves paying Atletico around £44m for the Brazil international.

Cunha is under contract at Wolves until the summer of 2027 and can be deployed in a number of different attacking roles.

He has mainly been used as an attacking midfielder this term but can also feature as a second striker, centre-forward, right winger or left winger.

Cunha has played a total of 74 games for Wolves to date across all competitions, registering 25 goals and 12 assists.

The 25-year-old has earned 11 caps for the Brazilian national team to date.
