Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is believed to be hoping to secure a fresh transfer in January as his doping ban enters its final few months.
Initially, Pogba was handed a four-year ban after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a drug that can raise a person's testosterone levels. However, the Frenchman chose to appeal the ban and saw it reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Announcing the decision in October, the CAS judges agreed that Pogba had not intentionally taken DHEA and his positive test result came from taking a supplement prescribed to him by a Florida doctor. Despite his ban being reduced, Pogba was released by Juventus in November and is now a free agent.
A move back to the Premier League has been linked for Pogba - even returning to United. However, Ruben Amorim is unlikely to invest in the midfielder.
The Athletic understands Pogba is currently being put through his paces in Miami ahead of the January transfer window. The desire for Pogba is to sign for a new club this winter so he can start preparing for a competitive return in March.
There are believed to be a number of interested clubs wanting Pogba to join them and it is not a guarantee that he will play in March. It is thought the ex-Juventus man wants to be 100 per cent fit before stepping foot onto the pitch.
This stance is understandable considering his recent record with injuries. During his second spell at Juve, Pogba missed a whopping 58 matches through injury and lost a month of pre-season in 2023 with an unknown injury.
