Liverpool are set to play Leicester City on Thursday in their latest instalment of Boxing Day action.
A nearly full fixture list on the day after Christmas is one of English football’s great traditions.
And after spending last year away at Burnley, the Liverpool squad have home comforts this time around, facing the Foxes at Anfield.
Liverpool will start the game as heavy favourites and will end it top of the Premier League table whatever happens.
It’s set to be an enjoyable day for local Reds, who can take in the rest of Thursday’s action from home before trundling along to the 8pm kick-off.
However, as good as it may be, according to Jamie Carragher, there is a fixture which would be even better for Liverpool to play on Boxing Day.

As a result, when asked by Sky Sports to name his ‘dream Boxing Day match,’ it was not a surprise to hear Carragher pick a clash between the Blues and the Reds.

Unfortunately for Carragher his dream has not materialised this time around.

However, in all of those 92 times, playing against 33 different teams, the Reds have never met Everton on the day after Christmas.
It really would be something special for the families on Merseyside to renew their rivalry after spending the previous day or two eating, drinking and being merry together. Maybe one day, Carra.
