Clive Tyldesley has blasted Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji for his poor defensive work that saw Everton level the scores during the 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
Iliman Ndiaye had been Everton’s brightest spark throughout most of the first half and put the icing on top of the cake after coolly lashing the ball past Stefan Ortega after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s cross was deflected into his path.
In Akanji’s case, however, he should have done far better defensively and should have got something on the ball to stop it from getting across the box to the attacker.
Reacting straight away to the goal, Tyldesley – commentating for Amazon Prime (26 December)- said: “Akanji’s touch woeful, Ndiaye’s touch beautiful.
“Three Premier League goals for him now, both of the others were well taken at Ipswich and Leicester but that was special.”

The game at the Etihad Stadium ended 1-1, leaving Everton 15th for now.
Iliman Ndiaye is the best signing Everton made in the summer
Sean Dyche changed his Everton team in more ways than one during the summer transfer window but the addition of Ndiaye was arguably the best move he made.
The Senegal international has completely transformed the Merseyside outfit’s attack and before Dwight McNeil was sidelined due to injury, he had formed a fairly solid partnership with the Englishman.
The club may be sat 15th in the Premier League but if their last few results against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and now Manchester City are anything to go off of, it feels like they should be more than safe this term.

Ndiaye has made the left-wing role his own and has once again proven his worth to Dyche in their Boxing Day draw against the Cityzens.
At the moment, things seem to be going pretty well for the Toffees and if they can keep this level of form up, they could even make their way into the top half of the table if they can keep consistent, of course.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has been mooted to take up a new role within the Friedkin Group’s umbrella.
