Erling Haaland reacts after missing a Manchester City penalty

Erling Haaland missed a second-half penalty as Manchester City dropped more points in the Premier League.

A bright start from the champions saw them take the lead against Everton thanks to a Bernardo Silva finish that deflected in with the help of defender Jarrad Branthwaite, only for Iliman Ndiaye to punish City for not going further ahead. Savinho gifted Haaland the chance tot put the Blues back in front from the spot but he was unable to do so.

The point extends City's wretched run to just one win in their last 13 games in all competitions and their afternoon was made worse by Nathan Ake limping off. Here are how the players rated.

Ortega: Not much to say. Had very little to do other than pick the ball out of the net for a finish he couldn't do anything about. 6

Lewis: Bright at right-back, and a quieter game than recent efforts in the right way. A reminder of his talents at right-back when not flogged relentlessly. 6

Akanji: Ended up kneeing the ball to Ndiaye for the Everton goal and that wasn't the first time he was too casual at the back. 5

Ake: He brought composure to the backline, allowing Gvardiol to move up on the left with confidence. But then he got injured again. 6

Gvardiol: Hit the post with an early header and he remains one of City's biggest attacking threats but he was too careless in his own half. 5

Kovacic: Looked better than Gundogan has in the holding role, although for the few shots that troubled Pickford too many were easily blocked. 6

Silva: Scored an important goal, missed an important chance. Once again a decent performance where the result puts the focus on the negatives. 6

Foden: Even below his best, he still wanted the ball and tried to make things happen whenever he could. More encouragement after Villa Park. 7

Doku: Gave Silva the ball for the opening goal but more frustration for Haaland and his teammates at the way he used possession. 5

Savinho: Still doesn't offer enough in the final third for all the promising play that gets him there, but the penalty should have been enough for City. 6

Haaland: He is there to win games with his goals and he fluffed his lines from the penalty spot to spoil a display that had been okay. 4
