Former Manchester United goalkeeper-turned-pundit Ben Foster has shared his opinion on reports linking Marcus Rashford with a move to Arsenal in January. The 27-year-old forward appears to have fallen out of favor under Ruben Amorim in recent weeks, leading to speculation about his future.
Rashford was first dropped from the Manchester United squad when they faced Manchester City on December 15 and he has not made a matchday squad since. The English forward has spoken about his preparedness to take on a new challenge, implying that he is ready to change teams as soon as possible.
Speaking on his Cycling GK Podcast, Ben Foster said that he does not expect the Gunners to be interested in Marcus Rashford for the January transfer window. He pointed at his inconsistent displays and reputation as the main reasons why Arsenal and other top sides will not look to sign him.
Foster said:
"Marcus Rashford... There's so many people that talk about him that say 'on his day, on his day'. His day is once every 10 games. Genuinely, it's once every 10 games and you can't have a luxury player in the modern game that will give you one game out of 10, it's as simple as that.
"Coupled with the fact that he gets so much reputation and baggage and everything that comes with it, I don't think Mikel Arteta wants that anywhere near that Arsenal. He has to get away from Manchester United. I think it'll be an MLS [move] or something. It's going to have to be a massive wage cut."
Arsenal find themselves in dire need of attacking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window following injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling last week. The pair are expected to be out until around February, at least, leading to rumors linking them to Rashford.
Arsenal eyeing move for PL star instead of Marcus Rashford - Reports
Arsenal are considering making a move to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson in the January transfer window, as per GiveMeSport. The Gunners have been linked with wide forwards such as Marcus Rashford following injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling.
Brighton youngster Ferguson has been targeted by several sides after losing his place in Fabian Hurzeler's side this season. The Irishman is said to be available for a loan deal in January and the Gunners are interested in taking him.
Mikel Arteta considers the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as potential options to feature out wide and will instead look to sign a striker if he has to. The Gunners have also been linked with French striker Randal Kolo Muani.
