Unai Emery will be without two key players against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Matty Cash and Jhon Duran will miss Aston Villa’s hosting of Brighton on December 30 through suspension
Duran was sent off for an apparent stamp on the back of Fabian Schar’s thigh just after the hour mark and saw red during Boxing Day’s clash away at Newcastle United. Cash, meanwhile, received his fifth yellow card of the season earlier in the first half.
The Poland international picked up his fourth booking last week in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City, leaving him on thin ice for the trip to St. James’ Park. Unai Emery was hoping Cash would avoid his fifth punishment of the campaign but a foul on Anthony Gordon just 14 minutes into the match sealed the right-back’s fate.

It’s likely Ezri Konsa will be shifted across to right-back to facilitate Carlos’ implementation into the starting XI.
Duran being unavailable is a little less of an issue given Ollie Watkins has been sat on the bench waiting for an opportunity over recent weeks. It awaits to be seen how long Duran’s ban will be as, if it’s deemed as violent conduct, the Colombian could miss three matches.
In other team news, Jacob Ramsey is working his way back to full fitness from a hamstring injury. The versatile midfielder is due to return at the start of January, so it’s unlikely he’ll feature against Brighton.
