Carlos Soler has put in a dismal first half for West Ham and must be taken off at half-time against Southampton.

The Hammers are taking on the Saints at St Mary’s on Boxing Day and have struggled in the first 45 minutes of the game.

Soler, in particular, who had a glorious chance to score, fluffed his lines, and Julen Lopetegui has to get him off at half-time.

Carlos Soler has struggled in the first half

Playing in an attacking midfield role, the Spaniard has struggled to be clinical with his passes and has also lacked composure in front of goal.

According to Sofascore, he has also lost most of his duels and lost possession multiple times against the Saints.

He has also been dribbled past more than once so he’s not offering much in possession or out of possession.

West Ham have to pick up the three points against Southampton

The Saints sit rock bottom in the Premier League so if the Hammers cannot win here, serious questions must be asked of Lopetegui.

There have been a few moments of brilliance but they have failed to control the game and Southampton have had chances to find the back of the net as well.

Hopefully, Lopetegui will be brave enough to make the change at the break and his side come out stronger in the second half.

In other West Ham news, sources claim the Hammers can now secure the services of a £40m player in January.
