An update has been given on West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski after he was stretchered off the pitch against Southampton.
The pole had pulled off some saves to keep the score level in the first half of the game at St Mary’s. Southampton are playing their first match under new manager Ivan Juric.
The Hammers were forced into an early change due to injury after defender Max Kilman went down with a shoulder injury after just 19 minutes. He was unable to continue and was replaced by Jean-Clair Todibo.
10 minutes before half time, West Ham were forced into their second change of the half, by using their concussion substitute. Fabianski was involved in a collison with Nathan Wood during a Southampton set-piece. The Saints man was shown a yellow card for the incident, with Fabianski receiving immediate lengthy treatment.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper was attended to by medical staff. Opposition goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who left the Emirates Stadium in the summer also made his way to the opposite end of the pitch to check on his fellow goalkeeper.
After a stop of seven-and-a-half minutes, the Hammers goalkeeper was taken off on a stretcher. He was applauded by all four sides of the stadium as fans showed their concern.
With the score at 0-0 at half time, Amazon Prime gave the latest on the player’s condition. The broadcaster confirmed that the goalkeeper had not gone to hospital and was continuing to be assessed at the stadium.
During the second half, in a further positive update, it was confirmed that Fabianski had taken his place back on the West Ham United bench to watch the rest of the match.
