Jason Tindall sent off after Unai Emery clash as Newcastle United release statement

[Newcastle United](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc) assistant boss Jason Tindall was controversially sent off during the Magpies' stormy clash with Aston Villa.

In a game that had already seen Jhon Duran shown a red card for trailing his studs down the back of Fabian Schar, referee Anthony Taylor then sent Tindall from the dugout.

Tindall and Unai Emery clashed in the first half as the Aston Villa boss complained of having "two" coaches in the technical area. Tindall's red card was confirmed by the club with the ex-Bournemouth manager initially taking a place in the press box for the second half.

But he made his way up to the stands a few minutes into the second half after being escorted by security from the media and broadcast areas. Newcastle then released a statement reading: "Jason Tindall has been sent off during the half-time break and will watch the rest of the game from the stands."

The rules were made clear to Newcastle and their Premier League rivals last season with the FA Premier League rulebook reading: "Only one person can stand at the front of the technical area and coach during the match. Only one other person is allowed to stand, but they must remain close to the technical area seating. All other occupants must remain seated."

Howe had said last year: "I think it’s a two, three metre difference on what we’re used to.”

"We will probably have to rotate duties to keep it fresh so that the players hear our voices. I won’t be able to go for 90 minutes so I think we’ll dovetail in the technical area."

Newcastle could only confirm that Tindall had been dismissed to reporters after the game with the exact reason why set to emerge after the game.
