Jhon Duran could face an extra two-game ban for a “totally unacceptable” incident in the technical area as Aston Villa were beaten by Newcastle United at St James’ Park, according to former FIFA referee Keith Hackett.
The Colombia striker was sent off for violent conduct after catching Fabian Schar on the back with his right boot during the 3-0 loss on Boxing Day (26 December).
Duran, 21, was then being led away from the pitch in the technical area and in footage posted by Amazon Prime he appeared to aim a kick in frustration.
Ex-PGMOL chief Hackett said the incident must be reviewed by the disciplinary panel and suggested an additional two-game ban on top of the three he would already face for violent conduct.
“Wow that kick whilst in the technical area is totally unacceptable and must be reviewed by the Disciplinary Panel,” Hackett exclusively told Villa News.
“I would suggest that he should receive a further two-match ban for this act of violence and it should be treated as a second offence.

“Totally unacceptable behaviour.”
Jhon Duran could face extended Aston Villa ban
Hackett, a former Premier League official, felt that Duran could already have been looking at further punishment for the challenge on Schar alone.
“This is a challenge that is unacceptable and a clear red card offence,” Hackett added.
“Rarely do the disciplinary panel upgrade beyond the three-match ban. However, I suggest given the severity of this offence the disciplinary panel should review with a view to increasing the punishment.”
Duran has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Villa this season and had recently usurped Ollie Watkins as first-choice striker.
But his upcoming ban might allow the England international the opportunity to reclaim his starting berth over Duran.
In other Aston Villa news, one ace could quit Villa Park in January with a new replacement already lined up.
