Chelsea fans have started comparing Cole Palmer to a former legend after his goal vs Fulham

There was not too much to shout about as far as Chelsea were concerned in their damning home defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day.

Cole Palmer gave the hosts the lead in the first half as he so often does, with it looking originally like he was going to be the star of the show at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca was the first to admit that Palmer found it hard to impact the game against Everton, however he was key to everything that was happening in the West London derby.

It is fair to say Chelsea were not at their free-flowing best against a tricky Fulham side, and it was only really a moment of individual brilliance that lit up Stamford Bridge as far as they were concerned.

Chelsea fans compare Cole Palmer to Eden Hazard after goal vs Fulham

Very few Chelsea supporters have seen a player with the quality of Palmer in their time watching the club, however one player who can compete with that is Eden Hazard.

There were certainly shades of the great Belgian in the goal scored by the England international, with him gliding through the defence before slotting a deft finish into the bottom corner.

Chelsea fans compared the goal to one scored by Hazard in one of his final games for the Blues against West Ham in 2019.

One user said: “That Palmer goal just gave me Hazard vs West Ham flashbacks.”

Finally, one user posted: “That was another Hazard/Messi style goal from Palmer. Wow.”

What has Eden Hazard said about Cole Palmer?

Predictably, Hazard has been asked about the brilliance of Palmer, with him following in his footsteps as a world-class player at Chelsea.

Hazard was full of praise for the current Chelsea man, calling him a ‘top player’. He said: “Cole Palmer is a top, top player. And you know, the left footed, sometimes they have something magical.”

Palmer’s goal today saw him move to 12 for the season in the Premier League, combining with six assists.

Hazard’s best goalscoring campaign saw him rack up 16 goals, a figure Palmer has already beaten in his debut campaign at the club.
