A controversial X post has caused a huge debate among football fans, who leapt to the defence of their respective clubs.
As the hectic Boxing Day fixture schedule was about to begin, fans around the country were no doubt looking forward to a day of football to add to the festive cheer.
However, an X post threw a spanner in the works earlier today.
At 9:20 am, Football Tweet posted to X.
“The biggest football clubs in each area in England," read the post.
Then, a list of the ‘biggest’ clubs from various areas followed.
“London - Arsenal,” said the account.
“Midlands - Aston Villa
“North East – Newcastle
“East Anglia - Ipswich
“South East - Southampton
“South West - Bristol City
“North West – Manchester United.
“Yorkshire – Leeds”

Of course, almost obviously, this did not go down too well with some sections of football fans.
When you consider there are 17 professional football clubs in London – including Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham – the account dubbing Arsenal as the biggest of them all was not to everyone’s taste.
One fan said: “Chelsea has always been bigger than Arsenal and will always be bigger than Arsenal."
Another added: "Arsenal is and will always be the biggest club in London and second biggest club in England."
While another commented: "How are Arsenal the biggest in London? Arsenal is a local champion that has never won anything beyond the shore of England. The biggest club is Chelsea. They have won both national and international trophies."
But the debate continued further north than London. The fact Aston Villa are the biggest club in the Midlands is hard to disagree with given their rich history - including their 1982 European Cup triumph.
Newcastle are arguably the biggest club in the Northeast but Sunderland fans had something to say about that.
Leeds could be considered Yorkshire's biggest club but both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday fans will no doubt disagree.
However, with Man United and Liverpool both playing on Boxing Day, the debate among their fans was interesting to say the least.
One fan explained: "Interesting take. Liverpool bigger than all except, arguably, Arsenal or Man Utd."
A second added: "Liverpool bigger than Utd - more trophies and European titles."
With a third saying: "Both Liverpool and Manchester Utd are equally massive."
Of course, is it difficult to measure the 'size' of a club. Should it be based off the number of trophies they have won? The amount of fans who attend games? Mabye even the levels of wealth their owners have? One thing that's for sure is that this won't be the last time the topic is debated among fans.
