Manchester United Foundation’s Primary School Assistant Manager Nick Bradshaw has been named as our Community Captain as part of the Premier League’s More Than A Game campaign, recognising his outstanding contribution to Premier League-funded programmes.
With 18 years’ service under his belt, during which time he has led more than 1,600 sessions and amassed over 4,700 delivery hours, the Foundation believes Nick’s incredible contribution is unmatched by any other coach across the Club Community Organisation network.
Nick delivers sessions as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, an education programme which uses the appeal of football to inspire children to be active and develop essential life skills, and has also worked as lead coach for several of our Premier League Kicks sites, providing free football opportunities for young people.

Nick said: “Having all this attention on me isn’t something I usually enjoy, but it really does mean a lot to me to have received this award.
“I’m a local lad and a lifelong United fan, so the work we do in the local community is really important to me.”
Honouring his impact, one of Nick’s recent sessions at Claremont Primary School welcomed two special guests – Alejandro Garnacho and Amad.

The Reds duo presented Nick with his award – but not before sneaking up on the class of children, who needed no second invitation to welcome the pair into their PE session, being led by Nick.
As part of the session, Garnacho and Amad enthusiastically threw themselves into a game of handball with the excited pupils and answered their questions.
Amad and Garnacho also took part in a PE lesson with primary school pupils, being led by Community Captain, Nick.
“I’m very happy to have presented this award today,” Amad said. “Nick has done an amazing job and it’s really important that young kids have people like him to look up to.
“I loved meeting the kids, too. They were a lot of fun and very competitive!”

During his lengthy stint with the Foundation, Nick has witnessed so much – but he still sees how invaluable visits such as these can be to the children involved.
“When you see the reaction of the kids’ faces as the players arrived today, it’s a reminder of why we do it,” Nick continued.
“It’s been amazing to have the two of them here today, creating lifelong memories for the kids – most importantly – but also to receive my award from them is something I won’t forget.”
A day to remember for players, staff and children alike.
The More Than A Game campaign celebrates the impact of a community captain elected by more than 100 clubs across England and Wales, as well as shining a light on the impact of Premier League-funded programmes delivered across the country.
