Tyrell Malacia should succeed while on loan from Manchester United at PSV Eindhoven in the second half of this season.
That’s according to manager Dick Advocaat, [via Feyenoord Pings](https://www.feyenoordpings.nl/advocaat-vertelt-over-feyenoord-tijd-hij-is-voor-niemand-bang/), who says he’s ‘convinced’ that the left-back will prove to be a smart signing.
Malacia joined the Dutch side on loan at the end of the January transfer window after it was made clear he was not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Manchester United.
He is hoping to be a regular for PSV between now and the end of the season as he looks to step up his recovery from an injury that saw him spend 500 days out of action.
The move has been questioned in the Netherlands, with many questioning whether he will get the gametime he requires at PSV or whether they actually need him. The move has also been debated as some wonder if his fitness will end up ruining the deal for both parties.
That’s been pushed back somewhat in the two weeks since the end of the January transfer window, with some seeing it as a positive short-term deal for the Dutch side to do.
Advocaat is one such thinker and has backed the Manchester United man to prove himself to be a hit sooner rather than later.
“I know that he hasn’t played for Manchester United for almost a year and a half, but this boy has a good head. Foppe (de Haan) always says: “He has a good head”. But I put it a bit nicer. At Feyenoord I saw that he is made of the right stuff,” he said.
“When I was there, it was a bit more difficult financially and we had a lot of young players. But boys like Orkun Kökçü, Lutsharel Geertruida and also Malacia handled that very well. Real professionals who really wanted to make it. They came from the youth team, came into the team and stayed. They did great.
“I am convinced of that; Tyrell is a real winner. As a trainer I didn’t have to say too much to him. In addition, he fits in with PSV, which is a good club for him. Tyrell is good on the ball, can be important in attack at PSV in Bosz’s game. And don’t underestimate his defensive qualities.”
“Tyrell may not be that big, but he holds his own. At Feyenoord he always went into battle. He is also really not afraid of anyone. Here in the Netherlands, he can become the player he was again. He knows the competition well and at PSV there are also players he knows from Oranje, that will give him a good feeling.”
