United manager Ruben Amorim and the current first-team Red Devils squad were also at Manchester Cathedral for the funeral procession.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who is regarded as one of the best managers of all time, recalled what Pele said about the former Manchester City and Torino player.

According to the legendary former United manager, Pele made it “easier” to describe Law after he claimed that the Scotsman could have played in the Brazil team.

“Trying to place Denis in the pantheon of all-time greats is a challenge,” Ferguson said at the funeral service, as per the BBC.

“But it is made easier by Pele. He was asked if there was a British player who could get in the [great] Brazil team.

“He said Denis Law – which is a fantastic tribute.”

“Denis gave him a withering look and let off a volley of abuse Nobby never forgot.”
