Manchester United’s shock plan to secure £70million star exit–Ex Scout

Manchester United have been a club crippled by mismanagement for the better part of the last decade.

It is insane to think of the number of managers they have hired and then fired, the termination fees they would have paid for them and their coaching staff and the number of players they have signed for the club who have then gone on to perform very poorly and plummet in terms of market value.

It has been a disaster class on financial mismanagement from the INEOS. In just the last few seasons, they have signed players like Antony, Mason Mount, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to name a few – all of whom who have hardly provided return on investment and have either moved on to different clubs for much lesser money or still remain on the books with the club unable to move them on.

All these decisions are bound to come back and haunt them sooner rather than later and now, as per former chief scout Mick Brown speaking to Football Insider, Manchester United are planning a shock sale of club academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo, in an attempt to generate some pure profit and balance the books so as to not fall on the wrong side of the PSR and FFP regulations. Brown said:

“It seems to be that they’re planning to move him (Mainoo) on to bring in more money to balance the books. He’s now got to solve the financial problems which have, in large part, been created by INEOS and the decisions they’ve made. Look how much money they spent on hiring and firing the managers.”

Should Manchester United sell Mainoo?

Valued at around £70million, Mainoo is one of those players whose sale could generate the club a lot of money and he will definitely not be short of interest from the Premier League and elsewhere.

The youngster came through the club’s ranks, meaning he cost them nothing in terms of a transfer fee and whatever they get out of this deal can be registered into the books as pure profit.

However, it would be an absolute shock to the Man Utd fanbase and an absolute disaster if the club ended up letting Mainoo go.

Amid the dark times of the club in the recent seasons, the one shining light for the fans has been the emergence of the likes of Mainoo and Garnacho from the academy and Amad Diallo in this season who have been the light at the end of the tunnel.

If the club was to let Mainoo go though, it might end up being “an oncoming train”, as Ange Postecoglou puts it.

Without an iota of doubt, Mainoo has a huge future in the game. Yes, he seems to be struggling currently to fit into the tactical setup of Ruben Amorim but he is too talented a player to not learn and adapt and in the long run, he has the potential to become one of the most promising midfielders that England have produced.

Let’s wait and see if it gets to the level that INEOS’ financial mismanagement forces them to sell one of their most promising sporting assets in a long time.

Man Utd fans will hope that this is not the case but only time will tell how it plays out. The next summer could be crucial in Mainoo’s future.
