One journalist has debunked a myth about Jadon Sancho’s loan move to Chelsea.
After an underwhelming spell at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho has been sent on loan twice.
Last season, the England international returned to Borussia Dortmund for half the season and featured in the Champions League before returning to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag had no place for Sancho in his plans and decided to permit a loan switch to Chelsea as the winger returned to the city of his youth.
Although Sancho had a bright start to life at Stamford Bridge, his form has begun to slump amid criticism from pundits and Chelsea fans alike.
In 22 games for Chelsea, Sancho has scored two goals and registered six assists. Two of those assists came in the European Conference League.
Sancho is unlikely to return to United in the summer because there’s an obligation to buy if Chelsea finish 15th or higher.

Jadon Sancho took pay cut to join Chelsea
Contrary to common belief, Ben Jacobs claims Sancho took a significant pay cut to join Chelsea on loan from United.

It seems like Sancho’s PR is in overdrive amid criticism over his recent performances for Chelsea. Their fans have grown tired of his passive displays on the wing but only time will tell if he will deliver how they expected him to.
Sancho could do with a few positive headlines after his embarrassing ‘freedom’ comment beneath Marcus Rashford’s recent Instagram post. The winger aimed an ironic dig at United despite continuing to frustrate fans at Chelsea.
At United, Sancho failed to meet expectations, and he is repeating that at Chelsea.
Chelsea could still regret the obligation clause in Sancho’s deal because they’re unlikely to finish below 15th in the Premier League. The Blues are currently positioned fourth – two points clear of Manchester City.
Sancho pay cut doesn’t change anything
If you take Sancho’s mixed performances into account, it would be difficult to argue against the ‘flop’ label from hanging over the winger’s head.
For that reason, a pay cut is irrelevant when it comes to Sancho.
Sancho was able to get his career back on track at Borussia Dortmund, but the Bundesliga outfit never pursued a deal to sign him back permanently.
That was telling and Chelsea would likely have a similar stance if there was no obligation to buy at the end of the campaign.
However, Sancho’s pay cut shows that he had a definitive desire to leave United.
United need to show any players who are feeling similarly the door in the summer, if any remain, that is…
