Geovany Quenda of Sporting CP
Manchester United do not have a lot to play for this season, apart from maybe pride. The Red Devils have fallen off a cliff in recent seasons but this one in particular has been very poor, with the prestigious club closer to a relegation spot than a Champions League spot, as the Premier League standings are as of this moment.
Ruben Amorim was appointed as the manager of Man Utd mid-season, replacing Erik ten Hag and despite a few positive signings and a clear identity on how he wants his team to play, he still doesn’t have the players to execute it and this is reflected in the poor results that have followed ever since.

There are very few games these days in which Man Utd look capable of causing a threat to their oppositions and just based on evidence so far this campaign, one would have to say that the likes of Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Brighton, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have all surpassed them in the Premier League.
Surely, Amorim will be banking on the board giving him a blockbuster summer transfer window where he is able to bring in players who suit his style of play and the easiest way to do this would be to sign players who served him well during his time at Sporting CP in Portugal.
Recently, we covered a story revealing that Man Utd had an agreement in place with Portuguese teenager Geovany Quenda to join the club in the summer with a fee of around £50.1m being mentioned. Despite his young age, Quenda shone in Amorim’s team and has continued his good form even after that.
Now, Quenda’s youth coach, Bernardo Bruschy, expects the the teenager to move to Manchester United to continue his career. Speaking to A Bola, here is what he had to say when asked whether the player client will move to Old Trafford.
“Seeing his name being associated with clubs of the biggest size in Europe surprises me just because it is so early, I am not surprised if he gets there.”
There are some youngsters who are just ready for the biggest stage irrespective of their age and Quenda seems to be one of them.
Having previously played under Ruben Amorim, adapting to his very specific system is unlikely to be an issue for the teenager.
Capable of playing both as a wing-back and as a wide attacking midfielder, Quenda could be a coup by Man Utd considering the potential return on investment that he could offer.
It remains to be seen if the transfer actually goes through and the next few months could give us a clearer picture if the Portuguese youngster would wear the Red Devils jersey next season.
