Jadon Sancho outperformed Cole Palmer in key area in Chelsea's 4-2 win vs Brighton in September, he now needs replica…

You could understand if Enzo Maresca decided to drop Jadon Sancho for Chelsea’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday.

Jadon Sancho‘s form has not been great lately, with the winger having managed to register just one goal contribution in his last nine Premier League outings.

However, when Chelsea took on Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the season, he was phenomenal.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy wants to see more from Sancho, and he may when the Blues travel to the Amex. While the 24-year-old was ineffective against Fabian Hurzeler’s men last Saturday, he has still proven that he can hurt them.

Jadon Sancho’s numbers vs Brighton in 4-2 win

Chelsea could not beat Brighton in the FA Cup, but when it came to their last Premier League tie, they were able to defeat them by four goals to two.

Sancho was excellent on that afternoon back in September, even managing to outdo Cole Palmer in a couple of areas.

The Englishman won a penalty, provided one assist, made one key pass and completed seven dribbles, six more than what his teammate managed.

After scoring all of Chelsea’s four goals, which included a stunning free-kick, Palmer rightly received all of the plaudits after the game. But Sancho also deserved some credit for his role in the win.

Should Jadon Sancho start against Brighton on Friday?

Given how devastating Sancho was the last time Chelsea and Brighton met in the top flight, it may be worth keeping him in the side, even if his form is not great right now.

The England international did not do much in the FA Cup tie between these two sides, but the Premier League is a different competition.

You would expect Enzo Maresca to raise the bar on Friday and for everyone to put even more effort in. Eyeing Champions League qualification, there is simply more for Sancho and Co to play for.
