Man Utd wonderkid shows he can be Ruben Amorim's own Geovany Quenda, with stunning FA Youth Cup performance

Manchester United are looking for stars of the future, and may have several in development already.

The recent addition of Diego Leon shows Manchester United are prepared to scour the globe as far as Paraguay to recruit wonderkids.

United are also eyeing a move for Sporting sensation Geovany Quenda, who made his debut under Ruben Amorim at the Portuguese club.

And while signing the teenager could be a shrewd move, there is an alternative in the academy at Carrington.

Jaydan Kamason shows his quality

Manchester United’s under-18s team demolished Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup fifth round, a game expected to be a tough encounter, winning 5-1.

And while Chelsea took an undeserved 1-0 lead, Manchester United had surged into a 3-1 lead by half-time.

Jaydan Kamason was the key to the comeback, dictating Manchester United’s play from the right-back position.

Kamason lofted an expertly judged ball over the Chelsea defence for United’s first, allowing Chido Obi to move in and score the first goal of his inevitable hat-trick.

The second goal was even more impressive, with Kamason embarking on a surging run down the right flank, whipping in a terrific cross, for an even better header from James Scanlon.

These two goals turned the game and United did not look back, with Scanlon adding another and Obi completing his hat-trick. Jack Fletcher and Gabriele Biancheri added further assists.

Kamason’s performance showcased his recent development, which has seen him become a key part of the under-18s set up.

His driving run for United’s second, the best of his two assists, showcased the ability that would make him well suited for Ruben Amorim’s wing-back system.

United may sign Geovany Quenda anyway. But Jaydan Kamason is a player who will hope to compete for his spot.

What to know about Jaydan Kamason

Jaydan Kamason was part of Manchester United’s title-winning team at under-18s level last season.

He made his under-18s debut at 16 in early 2023, having already represented England at youth level.
