Jadon Sancho has been accused of trying to drag Marcus Rashford “into his mess”.

Sancho caused uproar among Manchester United fans when he aimed a thinly veiled dig at the Old Trafford club in the wake of Rashford’s debut for Aston Villa.

Rashford had posted a positive message on Instagram after making his first appearance for Villa in an FA Cup victory over Tottenham, following his loan move from the Red Devils, thanking the Villa fans for the “warm welcome”. Having been frozen out by United manager Ruben Amorim, it was Rashford’s first action since mid-December.

And Sancho, who is currently on loan from United to Chelsea, posted a one-word reply of “freedom”, which didn’t go down well on the red side of Manchester.

Sancho has not played for United in a competitive match since August 2023 after a public fall out with former manager Erik ten Hag and he was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund last season before being shipped out to Chelsea in August.

And United title-winner Paul Parker has criticised the player over his response to Rashford’s post.

He said: "Jadon Sancho reminds me of a weak little boy who is using someone else to air his grievances. He doesn’t have the strength, power, or presence to do it on his own, so he’s trying to drag Rashford into his mess.

“I hope Rashford is smart enough to stay out of it. Even his PR team should know better than to let him get involved in this nonsense. He (Sancho) should be focused on improving his game instead of alienating himself further. Sancho is absolutely weak. He needs to take a long, hard look at himself."
