Patrick Dorgu will be a hit at Manchester United eventually and prove worthy of the effort to get him in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Liverpool legend Jan Mølby, [via Tipsbladet](https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/premier-league/jan-moelby-maaber-det-er-utroligt-ikke), who believes the youngster will prove himself at Old Trafford eventually.
The 20-year-old joined Manchester United in a €30m move last month, with that price set to rise to €35m if certain bonuses are ever met.
It’s the first big move of the youngster’s career after previously starting out in Denmark before moving to Lecce U19s in 2022.
He impressed at the Italian club over the last few years, establishing himself in the first team and as a firm fan favourite with his performances in Serie A.
Life at Manchester United has not started how he would have hoped, though, as he was thrown in at the deep end by Amorim, who started him in the 2-1 win over Leicester City in the FA Cup last week.
That did not work out and Dorgu was hauled off at half time following an ineffective 45-minute showing, but Mølby, who was at Liverpool from 1984 until 1996, is expecting bigger and better in future for the youngster in future.
_“We have to take off the hat for we have three Danes in one of the world’s biggest football clubs. It’s incredible, right?”_ he said.
_“As a Dane, it is incredibly exciting with Dorgu in Manchester United. I really like his profile and the way Manchester United have started buying players._
_“Dorgu has also played right in Lecce so he can play both seats. One of the most important things for Amorim has been to control these wingbacks, so Dorgu really gets a key role on this Manchester United team.”_
Jan Mølby won three league titles and picked up the FA Cup twice with Liverpool.
