Manchester United’s U18s produced a stunning display to thrash Chelsea 5-1 at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday night.

The dominant victory ended a three-game winless streak and sent the Red Devils into the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals.

Chelsea were considered one of the favourites, but United proved their academy is the best in England right now.

Chido Obi was the star of the show, delivering a world-class performance.

Jason Wilcox, Darren Fletcher, and Christopher Vivell were in attendance.

The Danish sensation scored a hat-trick, taking his tally to 15 goals across U18 and U21 football.

Very impressive considering his season only started in October.

Chido-Obi has now netted seven goals in just three FA Youth Cup appearances, showcasing his elite ability in front of goal.

His first goal highlighted his exceptional positioning, his second displayed his composure.

Finally, his third underlined his finishing prowess.

The 17-year-old also demonstrated his physicality, beating Chelsea defenders with his speed and holding up play brilliantly.

Obi’s absence in recent weeks had been felt by United, with Victor Musa failing to match his impact.

James Scanlon also shone, scoring his 14th goal of the U18 season in another impressive display.

United will now face Arsenal in the quarter-finals, a huge game for Obi as he pushes for a senior breakthrough.

His performance will give Ruben Amorim something to think about as United plan for the summer transfer window.

In January, Amorim wanted a new striker, but no reinforcements arrived, leaving him reliant on Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.

Neither have provided the consistent goal threat United need.

That is why Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen are top targets.

However, Obi’s performance has made a strong case for Amorim to give him a chance instead of spending millions on a new striker.

If Amorim promotes Obi, United could reallocate funds elsewhere in the squad this summer.

Obi already possesses qualities that Hojlund and Zirkzee would envy, and if given an opportunity, he could quickly replace them.
