Spurs looking to salvage season as Postecoglou hopes for reset

It has been reported over recent days that Postecoglou hopes to press the reset button on Tottenham’s season this week as the Spurs boss gave Monday and Tuesday off to his players and welcomed several new faces to training on Wednesday.

Tottenham have a rare full week to recover and train before they Premier League action on Sunday, with Manchester United rocking into town.

Both clubs are desperate to get back to winning ways and pull themselves up from midtable mediocrity, and both managers are under immense pressure.

Ange Postecoglou could be boosted by major returnees

The Daily Mail claim that as many as five of Tottenham’s injured first-team players could be back before the game on Sunday.

The report reveals that Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert are expected to travel this week, with all of them considered ‘possible returners’ for the clash against the Red Devils.

It is unclear how many of them will be fit to start, given how long they have been sidelined for. However, even having that kind of experience and quality to call on from the bench would make a huge difference to Postecoglou, who has made do with a squad down to its bare bones over recent months.

The returnees will give everyone at Hotspur Way a lift

The return of the likes of Vicario and Maddison will bring some much-needed leadership to an extremely young Tottenham side.

Seeing these faces return will not only lift the standards in training but also boost the overall spirit at Hotspur Way and relieve some of the doom and gloom that has been surrounding Spurs recently.

Postecoglou would be hoping that the players are able to start afresh on Sunday and play with more confidence than they have shown in recent matches.
