Manchester United player wins arbitration case over fines and wages – Now set for compensation

Manchester United’s Antony has won his legal dispute with former club Ajax and is set earn compensation from the Dutch club.

That’s [according to Soccer News](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/antony-bezorgt-ajax-grote-kater/), who report that an arbitration committee for the KNVB has ruled in the Brazilian’s favour.

Antony had taken his case against his former club to the authorities after they had imposed big fines on him following his move to Manchester United.

They felt that the forward deserved punishment after he tried to force his transfer to Manchester United in 2022. They later sanctioned him for €363,000 despite his move to Old Trafford.

Antony, though, believes that he is owed that money back, particularly after Manchester United paid €95m to sign him.

The arbitration committee for the KNVB has now ruled on the dispute. According to them, a fine of €50,000 for missing group training once, which Ajax imposed on the forward, was ‘excessive’.

Further fines that Ajax then handed out are also ‘out of proportion’, although it is not yet clear how much Ajax will be told to pay back the Manchester United forward. That’s because a statement from former Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder is yet to be worked into matters.

Antony’s camp are expected to be in contact either way, with this ruling going in his favour and the Dutch club due to pay back in some capacity.
