Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven may not be ready to play against Manchester United given his hamstring injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it will take the Dutch centre-back a considerable amount of time to get back to full fitness.

This is because he has had multiple issues with his hamstring and that has adversely impacted his match sharpness.

Micky van de Ven may need a number of games to return to full fitness

Discussing the state of play with Vicario exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.

“Given his injury history and recent slew of hamstring issues, it will take him a considerable amount of time to get back to full fitness,” he said.

“He will need bounce matches in the Premier League plus a run of games to get close to that.

“The difficult part with him is how pace-reliant he is and how he’s asked to make many sprints during the match – both of which add considerable load to the hamstrings.

“*He may still not be risked for the weekend game, given what Ange said.*“

It seems within the realms of possibility that he does not feature against Manchester United on Sunday, 16 February.

Radu Dragusin, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison are already ruled out of the game.

Ange Postecoglou’s side host Ruben Amorim’s men and both sides want to end the season well after dismal first halves of the campaign.

Tottenham need to be careful with Micky van de Ven

The 23-year-old is a high-intensity player and also covers a lot of ground for a centre-back.

His pace and acceleration make him an asset in defence but also make him vulnerable to hamstring issues.

Spurs cannot push him to the limit before he returns to 100 per cent and that unfortunately is what they’ve been doing with him.

It remains to be seen if he’s in decent shape to return against United as he will be training but it’s still unclear if he’s back in full first-team training.

Tottenham fans

Tottenham fans haven’t had much to cheer about in recent years.

Given the club’s injury issues, with the number of first-team players out now in double digits, they cannot afford to be taking any more risks.
