Man Utd face Real Madrid competition for transfer of£55m Premier League star

Dean Huijsen is attracting interest from a number of clubs

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both reportedly eyeing a move for Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen.

Huijsen has impressed for Bournemouth so far this season, with the 19-year-old making 21 appearances across all competitions since joining the Cherries from Juventus in a £12.8million deal last summer.

And according to a new report from the Sun, Huijsen's performance have attracted the interest of United and Madrid. The report states that there is a £55m release clause in the defender's contract, which will become active next summer.

It is also claimed that several other top sides in England and Germany are also interested in Huijsen. The teenager has formed an excellent partnership with Illia Zabarnyi after Marcos Senesi was sidelined with a serious hamstring injury.

Huijsen has not missed a single minute of football since Senesi picked up his injury against Wolves back in November, with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola hugely impressed with Huijsen's impact.

"I think Dean is showing from the beginning that he's someone with confidence in himself," Iraola said after Huijsen became Bournemouth's youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer after . "For someone that is 19, he already has played six, seven games, I think.

"Now, with the injury of Marcos, for sure he will have to play more. I hope that they can, with Zaba, with Milos [Kerkez], players that are very, very young, it's not always easy to play as a defender in the Premier League, being as young.

"I think they can grow together and continue their development because the good thing for them is that they still have room to improve. He [Huijsen] has been always, in his young career, a goal threat for someone who is a centre back.

"It's good that he had this. He had also the crossbar against Brentford, I think the games he's played always he has one or two chances even playing as a centre back and it's like an extra for him. It's not the main part of his game, but it's always nice that we can have these threats."

Mirror Football understands that Chelsea, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are also in the race for Huijsen. Newcastle have been monitoring him since his loan spell at Roma last season and he was considered as a potential alternative to Marc Guehi, although the Magpies were ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Crystal Palace captain.
