Manchester United will need a big summer transfer window after what has been a difficult season so far.
The Red Devils started the campaign with Erik ten Hag, but the Dutchman was shown the door after a terrible start to the season.
Ruben Amorim was brought in, and although some of the things he has done have been promising, United are far away from where they should be.
To solve their issues, Manchester United will need to sign world-class players, and Amorim has identified one who will make a serious difference.
Ruben Amorim’s stance on Victor Osimhen transfer as new price-tag emerges
Victor Osimhen is among the best strikers in the world.
The Nigeria international was a superstar during his time at Napoli, but he was desperate to leave the Italian side last summer.
After Osimhen’s move to Chelsea collapsed, the striker joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal.
Once that spell is done, Osimhen is expected to be on the move again, and GiveMeSport have revealed the latest on his situation.
The report reveals that ‘Amorim and members of the Old Trafford hierarchy have pinpointed the Nigeria international as a proven goalscorer who is capable of revolutionising their side’ in attack.
It has further been claimed that Manchester United have started making plans to enter negotiations to sign Osimhen, even though he will cost a fortune in terms of transfer fees and wages.
The report adds that the striker’s price tag this summer will drop to £63 million, which is still a lot of money but cheaper than what Napoli wanted last year.
TBR Football exclusively revealed this week that Manchester United could offer Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee in a swap deal to sign Osimhen in the summer.
Victor Osimhen’s stats in 2024/25 compared to Manchester United’s strikers
Manchester United’s strikers have really let them down this season.
Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee are both really talented, but their numbers since the start of the campaign have just not been good enough.
Osimhen, on the other hand, is levels above both of them.
Games Goals Assists
Rasmus Hojlund 31 7 1
Joshua Zirkzee 36 5 2
Victor Osimhen 23 17 5
Stats in 2024/25 (correct as of February 14, 2025)
As you can see in the table above, Osimhen has had a significantly better season than both Hojlund and Zirkzee so far.
Then Nigerian would be a massive upgrade on the two Manchester United strikers, and we are not surprised that Amorim thinks he will revolutionise the club.
However, Juventus are said to be interested in signing Osimhen as well, and the Italian giants will likely be in a position where they can offer Champions League football next season.
That could sway Osimhen, who reportedly wants to play in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
