Roy Keane and Gary Neville in agreement with Tottenham vs Man Utd prediction

Ruben Amorim, Manager of Manchester United, congratulates Ange Postecoglou, Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, at the end of the Carabao Cup Quarter Final match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 19, 2024

Ruben Amorim will face Ange Postecoglou's side again

Both Roy Keane and Gary Neville have backed Manchester United to beat Tottenham on Sunday in their Premier League clash.

Spurs and United are both languishing in the bottom half of the table with just over a third of the season left. Tottenham won their last league game before suffering back-to-back defeats in cup competitions, while United's last league match was a dismal 2-0 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

Ruben Amorim's side got back to winning ways with a late and controversial 2-1 victory over Leicester in the FA Cup, booking them a them a tie at home to Fulham in round five. Former United captains Keane and Neville see the Red Devils being victorious again, tipping them to beat injury-hit Tottenham, who ran out 3-0 winners at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

"I think United win. 2-1 United," Neville predicted on the Stick to Football podcast. Keane agreed but went for a more resounding scoreline, having joked about the home side's injury situation: "Have Spurs got their players back? Is (James) Maddison back?" the legendary former midfielder quipped after criticising Maddison earlier in the podcast. "I'm going to go United. 3-1 United."

Keane is skeptical about Tottenham's chances of having a successful season even when Ange Postecoglou welcomes back his regular starters. "My only thing with Ange is he mentioned they have no midweek games for a couple of weeks," Keane elaborated.

"But it's not like you can just get a magic wand out on the training pitch and all of a sudden they make the players better. What happens if United go and beat them next week when they've a full week of and players back? Then they will definitely be looking at the manager."

Tottenham have already beaten Manchester United twice this season

United go into the game with a much healthier squad, having also been able to enjoy a free midweek without needing to play in the Europa League play-off round. Amorim's side have already lost at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, suffering a 4-3 defeat in the teams' Carabao Cup quarter-final clash.

Despite the loss to Palace, United have won six of their last eight games in all competitions. They'll also have a free midweek after the Tottenham clash before making the journey to face a rejuvenated Everton, visiting Goodison Park for the last time.
