Antony has enjoyed a strong start to life in La Liga after joining Real Betis on loan from Manchester United in the winter transfer window.
The Brazilian continued his strong start for the Spanish outfit, scoring the opener in their 3-0 win over Gent in the Uefa Conference League on Thursday. He picked up the ball from outside of the 18-yard-box before evading two defenders and curling a left-footed shot into the bottom left.
During his celebration, Antony lifted his shirt to display an interesting Biblical verse which read: "Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth."
In what was his third start for Betis across all competitions so far, the 24-year-old now has two goals and an assist to his name. Taking to Instagram after the game, he shared some pictures from the game and simply tagged Real Betis in the caption followed by emojis.
Speaking to reporters, the Brazilian said: "In my heart I knew that I would be very happy at Betis, I was sure about that. This win goes for the fans, they never stop supporting us."
His manager at United, Ruben Amorim, spoke about Antony in December and said: "He needs more confidence.
"If you remember the Antony at Ajax, he lacks a little bit of confidence to go one-v-one, so he will improve.
“But he's working really hard, he's trying, he's playing more inside than outside, especially in this game (against Tottenham).
"You have to do that to work really hard and that will help him to be a better player."
Antony signed for United from Ajax in 2022 and was one one of Erik ten Hag's first major signings when he joined the club.
