Paul Merson has made his score prediction for Tottenham Hotspur’s weekend clash with Man United and he has little praise to offer for either side.

Tottenham and Man United have both had terrible seasons
Tottenham secured a 2-0 victory over Brentford in their last Premier League outing, however, it has been a league campaign to forget. Their four matches prior to the Brentford win ended in defeats, contributing to Spurs sitting 14th in the Premier League Table.
Despite Tottenham’s negative league form, progress was being made in cup competitions. However, Spurs have now exited both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, in what can only be described as a shocking season domestically.
Tottenham’s saving grace this Sunday could be the opponents they face. Manchester United are only two points ahead in the league and seven of their 11 league defeats have occurred since December. Also, Spurs have already beaten United twice this season, scoring seven goals in the process.

Paul Merson predicts a close victory for Spurs
Paul Merson is rarely one to praise Tottenham and this has certainly remained the case ahead of this weekend.
However, while he is critical of his former arch-rivals, he has slammed Manchester United, who he believes have no excuse for their poor performances.
Merson told Sportskeeda: “Whoever loses this game is in big trouble. I don’t even know where to start because both Tottenham and Manchester United are as bad as each other!
MORE SPURS STORIES
“Spurs can point to their injuries, but what’s United’s excuse at the moment? Ruben Amorim has to change things up. I know he has been true to his philosophy but he needs to realise the players available at Old Trafford are not fit to play that way. You can’t stay adamant like this at the cost of losing games! Next year, when you have the right players for your system, try it out.
“I saw him put the new kid Patrick Dorgu in an unnatural position on his debut. I mean, what is this?
“I’d be shocked if Manchester United win this game. I think Spurs have the better forwards and that will end up being the difference between the sides. This is Manchester United we’re talking about and they should be smashing Tottenham in an ideal world. But I can’t even see them beating Palace at the moment, how can I expect them to win this game then?”
Score prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Man United

Tottenham could move up the Premier League table with a win
Ange Postecoglou needs to get his side winning regularly if he is to keep his position as manager. It may be too late to finish in the position Spurs would have been targeting before the season began, but a win against United could see them rise to 12th.
A loss, however, risks seeing Tottenham drop to 16th place below Everton and West Ham. It is therefore important that Spurs defeat the Red Devils for a third time this season as they look to restore the club’s dignity.
