'You feel it'- Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim makes Patrick Dorgu debut admission

Ruben Amorim felt Patrick Dorgu was "nervous" on his Manchester United debut against Leicester City.

United signed Dorgu from Lecce for £25million rising to £29m two weeks ago and he started in the [FA Cup](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/fa-cup) fourth round tie last week but was substituted at half-time.

The 20-year-old is in line for his [Premier League](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/premier-league) debut against Tottenham on Sunday and Amorim indicated there were doubts over at least three unnamed players.

United have a lighter squad following the departures of Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Marcus Rashford in the winter transfer window. Antony has received a man of the match award and scored two goals in his three appearances for Real Betis.

Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga, sold under previous manager Erik ten Hag, have excelled for Napoli and Nottingham Forest and Amorim acknowledged players are bound to thrive away from the United pressure-cooker.

"I don’t know, sometimes it’s like that," Amorim said. "It can happen in any club, this is a club with a lot of pressure and in this kind of club you have to have a base of a team to put younger players, talented players, that come from abroad, that come to a team with one strong base, that can help them to cope with that pressure, in the moment we don’t have that.

"So it’s really hard also on them. You feel it in Dorgu, he was a little bit nervous in the first moment, but if you are playing better as a team, you have a strong core that can cope with this and are winning games and really strong in the games like it was supposed to be in this kind of club it will be more easy for these kind of players to play football.

"But football is like that, when you reach that level you need to cope with the pressure. Sometimes they go to other clubs and they are more free without pressure and they play better. I don’t know."
