**West Ham** could be involved in a sensational [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) switch with Manchester United in an attempt to circumvent player trading rules.
The Old Trafford club initially attempted to buy West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo from French club Nice last summer but were thwarted at the last minute. UEFA refused to sanction the transfer of the French defender because Man U shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group also hold shares in the Ligue 1 club.
As a result, Juventus and West Ham were left to fight it out for the player’s signature, with the Hammers eventually outbidding the Italian giants.
However, breaking reports that West Ham could be looking to offload or ‘flip’ Todibo in the summer when his loan deal expires and he officially becomes a Hammers player make a lot more sense now.
It could be that Manchester United merely parked the 25-year-old in East London to facilitate a later transfer to the Red Devils.
Todibo is currently making his way back to fitness and is expected to be in Graham Potter’s squad for the [Premier League](https://www.claretandhugh.info/premier-league-bio/) game against Brentford tomorrow.
