Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad is starting to look a bit more on the healthy side after some positive news on the injury front. Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie and James Maddison are all in a position to be in the matchday party for Sunday's game against Manchester United, with the boss also confirming the news of Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner's return to first-team training.
Vicario is ready to immediately take his place in the Tottenham XI and the same could go for Maddison going on Postecoglou's pre-match press conference comments. However, what the boss had to say suggests that Udogie may have to contend with a place on the bench to begin with.
So what changes could Postecoglou possibly make to his Tottenham team after last Sunday's FA Cup exit at the hands of Aston Villa? football.london takes a look below.
Guglielmo Vicario for Antonin Kinsky
It looks set to be a straightforward decision in goal with Vicario now available for selection once again. Antonin Kinsky has performed very well since moving to the club but he will have to settle for a substitute role now that Spurs' No.1 is back.
Vicario's return is also vital for Spurs as he brings leadership skills that the team have been lacking in his absence.
Ben Davies for Archie Gray
Ben Davies dropped down to the bench at Aston Villa last time out but he could be recalled to the team to face Manchester United. Postecoglou has not had many opportunities to start with two natural defenders at the heart of defence in recent months and it could be Davies who partners Kevin Danso on Sunday.
Archie Gray has performed extremely well at centre-back since the beginning of December but he is due a rest.
Yves Bissouma for Mikey Moore
Midfield is a problem for Tottenham right now despite Postecoglou having the vast majority of his players there available for selection. As poor as Yves Bissouma was at Liverpool just over a week ago, Spurs looked much better for having him in the team at the beginning of the second half at Aston Villa.
That may well see Bissouma reinstated in midfield and it could possibly be Mikey Moore who makes way in a move that leads to Dejan Kulusevski pushing into the front three.
Pape Matar Sarr for Rodrigo Bentancur/Lucas Bergvall
Pape Matar Sarr could also be a contender to come into midfield after starting on the bench at Aston Villa. The Senegalese ace has fared well against Manchester United in the past, most notably in Postecoglou's first home league game in charge of Spurs in August 2023.
Rodrigo Bentancur or Lucas Bergvall could be at risk if Sarr comes in.
James Maddison for Rodrigo Bentancur/Lucas Bergvall
Maddison's return to fitness does leave Postecoglou with a call to make ahead of this weekend's game. The head coach has indicated his attacking midfielder starting is "a possibility" as his time out injured has been shorter than that of some of his teammates.
Maddison is someone who can have a big say on proceedings but Postecoglou may be a tad cautious with his player and ease him in off the bench. Even if that is the case, it will be nice to have a player of his quality to introduce in the second half.
